Who is Road ID?
Road ID was created on the concept that active people should wear ID as part of
their gear when participating in outdoor activities. It was started by a couple
of guys who began to wonder "why in the heck don't we have ID on us when we
go out for a run or a ride?" We looked at our dogs, they had ID. But, if we
had an unexpected accident, while running or cycling, we would be in bad shape -
nobody would know who we were or who to contact. That freaked us out.
Road ID, is a Kentucky based company. The principle owners are Edward Wimmer and
Mike Wimmer - a father and son team. "Road ID is our business - getting people
to wear ID is our crusade." Everyday, people leave their homes without any
form of identification. The only way to have identification with you all the time
is to wear it. Wearing ID will ensure safety and peace of mind - for you and your

What is Road ID?
Road ID is a durable, rugged, athletic, fashionable line of identification gear.
Currently, we offer 5 different forms of ID: the FIXX ID, the Shoe ID, the Ankle
ID the Wrist ID and the Shoe Pouch ID. We provide various forms of ID to
allow a person to decide where they want to wear their vital Identification. We
encourage active people who participate in outdoor activities to wear ID and not
take the chance of being unidentified in the event of an accident. It is far better
to wear ID and never need it than to need ID and not have it. To see our various

What is the difference between the two versions: Road ID Original and
Road ID Interactive
Every Road ID we sell is available in two versions: Road ID Original and Road ID
Interactive. We made a great comparison page that will help you understand the differences between

Are Road IDs guaranteed?
Of course! We even offer a "real" guarantee - you know, like companies used to offer.
If you are not satisfied with your order for any reason, you can return it for a
full refund or exchange. Additionally, our stainless steel ID carries a lifetime
guarantee. That's right, if you are tough enough to wear out our stainless steel,
laser engraved Road ID, we will replace it at no charge. We challenge you to destroy
them (through natural wear - gunshots and hand grenades don't count).
NOTE: Our lifetime guarantee applies to the stainless steel ID plate only. The bands
and straps that they are attached to are not covered for life. We do, however, offer
low-cost replacement bands and straps for all of our IDs.
Who needs ID?
ID should be as common and important as putting on a seat belt when getting into
a car, or strapping on a bike helmet to go for a ride. Identification is important
for people of all ages. If you are a runner, cyclist, jogger, walker, hiker, climber,
skater, skier, boarder, or someone who doesn't spend all of their time on the couch,
then we encourage you to wear ID. Kids need ID too as they rarely have ID when they
go out for a bike ride or walk to school.
Here are some stats for you: Each year over 450,000 of us are taken to hospitals
unconscious and without ID. Year after year, over 122,000 runners, walkers, and
cyclists are hit by cars. Thousands more suffer blackouts, concussions, heart attacks,
heat strokes and other serious accidents. The National Safe Kids Campaign estimates
that "every day, 39,000 children are injured seriously enough to require medical
attention."

Do people purchase Road ID for gifts?
Sure do! Many of our customers purchase Road IDs as special gifts for members of
their family or special friends. It's odd how we tend neglect our own safety, but
do not hesitate to think of the safety of our loved ones. Also, what other gift
in the $20-$25 price range could be as important or meaningful to someone you care
about? We can ship your order to anyone, anywhere in the world.
What is your Privacy Policy?
Our privacy policy is quite simple: We wouldn't want our personal information shared
with anyone, so we refuse to share yours with anyone. Your name, address, email
address, etc. will NOT be sold, traded, or given to any business, organization,

Can a running club or other group have their club logo engraved on the front side
of the FIXX ID?
Yes! We always look forward to the opportunity to engrave club logos on the FIXX
ID for club members to wear proudly as their form of ID. There is a one-time programming
charge of approximately $35-$65 to create and digitize the image or stylized text
for laser engraving. The final charge depends on the complexity of the image. Sometimes
we can waive the programming charge for groups that offer the FIXX ID to their members.

What makes the Road ID line of identification different from other forms of wearable
identification?
It's simple; we make certain that we offer the best possible product. Road ID is
the highest quality, toughest, most rugged, fashionable line of identification available.
We are the only company to use laser engraving. This type of engraving enables us
to achieve a superior quality of engraving. The laser technology makes very crisp
and clean images on all of our Road IDs (other companies typically use embossed or
rotary engraving procedures that produce inferior images). We also use the
highest quality stainless steel available. In addition, we are the only company
that caters to the specific needs of athletes and active people. Our IDs are unique
because we service unique individuals. You can count on us to be quality freaks
and stand behind every product we sell. To our knowledge, no one is offering anything

Is the FIXX ID the shape of the military dog tag?
It sure is. We selected this shape for many reasons. First, the military dog tag
is the most recognized form of identification in the world. The shape (including
the notch) is actually the same shape that was used for official military dog tags
manufactured between 1941 and the early 1970's. This shape is looked upon with pride
by those who served in the military and by most civilians as a symbol of the freedoms
we enjoy today in America. The FIXX ID also allows you to engrave an image on the
front side that is meaningful to you.
What happens if there is a mistake on my Road ID?
We’re very good at what we do. So, mistakes are quite rare. When they occur, we
work at warp speed to correct the problem. If we make a mistake, we will remake
and reship your order at no charge. If, however, you make the mistake, we will happily
remake and reship your ID for a small processing charge.

Each unique ID must go through a complex customization procedure to be laser engraved
per your request. When you order, your IDs immediately enter our production process.
The amount of time that it takes for your order to ship depends on several variables.
Orders for customized products will take no longer than 3 business days to ship.
This is very fast for customized products. According to the volume currently in
production, if you order now, your custom order will ship on
12/4/2008
NOTE: The above date is the day that your order will be shipped from our shipping
facility in Fort Mitchell, KY. The speed at which it is delivered after we ship
the order is based on the shipping method you select. Most Road ID orders can be
shipped via USPS 1st class for only $1.49. Other shipping options are available.
